A workshop titled "Fire Safety: Awareness and Risk Management" was organized by Munzur University's Faculty of Health Sciences on February 18, 2025, at the Munzur University Congress and Culture Center.
The event was attended by Munzur University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Muzaffer AŞKIN; Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Ülkü ÖZBEY; Munzur University faculty deans; Tunceli Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Deputy Director Kayacan BAYLAS; Acting Education Branch Manager Onur BEYDİLİ; Tunceli Provincial Directorate of National Education Civil Defense Specialist Sema EKREM; Tunceli Provincial Health Directorate UMKE Unit Manager Yoldaş ALTAŞ; Tunceli Fire Department Personnel Barış GÖKTEPE; our university's OHS Expert Lecturer Barış KARATAŞ; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berivan YILMAZER POLAT, representatives of the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, provincial officials, representatives of relevant institutions, our faculty's academic and administrative staff, and students from Munzur University attended the event.
The event discussed precautions to be taken against fire risks, potential emergency scenarios, and appropriate response methods. Planning, coordination, and response strategies aimed at minimizing loss of life and property before and after a disaster were discussed. Evaluations were made on the precautions to be taken before, during, and after a fire in faculty buildings and student dormitories.
In her speech, Prof. Dr. Ülkü Özbey said, “With such training and awareness programs, we aim to ensure that both our students and faculty are prepared for fire risks. Raising the level of safety and awareness not only on campus but also in our surroundings is very important to us.” Mr. Özbey concluded by thanking everyone who contributed to the event.
At the end of the event, participants emphasized the importance of finding solutions to common problems together and the continuity of informative workshops. It was stated that similar awareness programs will continue in the future. The workshop was completed and enriched with valuable questions, opinions and suggestions from the participants.
