"Harambee" is not just a word, but a call—a call to weave hope and harmony under the light of science and the voice of conscience.
As the Faculty of Health Sciences at Munzur University, we organized a panel for World Social Work Day under the theme "Building Hope and Harmony Together: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society," we brought together our city’s valued partner institutions around an academic vision and a shared goal on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at our university’s Congress and Culture Center to host the “World Social Work Day 2026” panel.
The opening remarks of our panel were delivered by our department chair, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Servet GÜN, our faculty dean; Prof. Dr. Ülkü ÖZBEY, our university vice-rector; and Prof. Dr. Nuran CIKCIKOĞLU, who highlighted the significance of the day, the importance of social work in the world and in Turkey, and congratulated us on the occasion.
As part of our panel, we were joined by our external stakeholders: Mr. Hüseyin OKAN, Provincial Director of the Ministry of Family and Social Services in Tunceli, and SW Umut Demir; SW Selda DEMİR from Tunceli YEDAM (Yeşilay Counseling Center); and SW Sinem ÇAKAR ŞENGÜL from Tunceli Municipality, and moderated by our department chair, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Servet GÜN. Our participants highlighted the social work practices carried out by institutions in Tunceli and emphasized the social service opportunities available in the region.
Following the panel and a question-and-answer session, the event concluded with a commemorative photo.
Under the auspices of our department, faculty, and university administration, we remain committed to serving as the intellectual driving force for social peace and solidarity and to dedicating science to the service of society.
